Ambulance service on the agenda for Craven Arms and Rural LJC

Related topics: Democracy

Craven Arms and Rural Local Joint Committee (LJC) will be discussing local hot topics of ambulance services in the area, and the issue of licensing local events and festivals, on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 7pm at Diddlebury Village Hall.

Officers from the Ambulance Trust will be in attendance to give an overview of the current ambulance service and situation regarding the Craven Arms station.  Also, Shropshire Council licensing and noise pollution staff will be present to give an overview of the regulations and reporting mechanisms regarding local events, and any problems they may cause local residents.

Representatives from the police will be in attendance to highlight recent issues and take questions from members of the public.

Shropshire Councillor David Evans, Chairman of the LJC, said:

These topics are very important at the moment for Craven Arms and a number of parishes and individuals in our area.  We want to encourage anyone with an interest to come along and join in.  We want to have constructive local discussions and debate on these key issues.”

At the meeting in July 2012, the LJC granted financial assistance to the following projects:

  • South Shropshire Youth Forum Green Team Project – to continue the outdoor-themed youth activities in Craven Arms – £2,371
  • South Shropshire Housing Association Community Chest Continuation – funding of £2,000 to continue to operate the small grants scheme on behalf of the LJC
  • Empathy Friendship group for special children and families – £1,800 towards monthly activities
  • Young engineer clubs in local schools – £600 to support the work of engineering volunteers in local schools
  • South Shropshire Youth Forum Cricket Activities throughout the year in the Craven Arms area – £500

There are a further four applications for consideration at this meeting.  The deadline for the last funding round of the financial year will be 11 February 2013.
